Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Urumqi
Meet the scheduled pickup after your flight or train arrival and transfer to the confirmed hotel. Keep sightseeing optional: airport formalities, traffic and hotel check-in can make a tightly planned first evening unreliable.
Day 2: Urumqi to the Altay or Burqin Area via the S21 Corridor
Travel north on the S21 corridor across the Gurbantunggut Desert. A short stop at the confirmed desert visitor area may be included before continuing to Beitun, Fuhai, Altay or another contracted overnight base. The source itinerary estimates roughly 530 km and 6.5 hours of driving before stops, so this is a transfer day rather than a full sightseeing day.
Day 3: Seasonal Ahe Highway and Hemu Village
When the Ahe Highway is officially open and road conditions are suitable, follow its forest, canyon and summer-pasture corridor toward Hemu. If it is closed, use the longer Burqin approach instead. Enter Hemu with the required scenic transport, walk around the wooden-house village and river area, and stay in a locally confirmed cabin or guesthouse. Take only an overnight bag into the village because repeated shuttle transfers make large luggage impractical.
Day 4: Hemu Morning and Kanas Scenic Area
Use the morning for Hemu before continuing to Kanas. Inside Kanas, choose among the open lakefront and bay routes using the scenic shuttle network; not every optional viewpoint fits the same day. Guanyu Pavilion requires a separate current reservation and a substantial stair climb, while lake cruises are optional. Continue to Burqin for the night.
Day 5: Burqin to Dushanzi Grand Canyon
Drive approximately 480 km south toward Dushanzi or Kuitun. Visit the designated Dushanzi Grand Canyon platforms if arrival time, weather and admission hours allow. This is another long road day, and the canyon stop should not be presented as a long hike.
Day 6: Sayram Lake, Guozigou and Yining
Continue west for a broader Sayram Lake circuit when vehicle access is operating under current scenic-area rules. Cross the Guozigou corridor and add a seasonal lavender stop only when flowering and access are verified. End in Yining or Huocheng, with independent evening time around Liuxing Street if the arrival time supports it.
Day 7: Yining to Kurdining and Xinyuan
Travel into the Ili valley toward Kurdining for spruce forest, stream scenery and short walks on open visitor paths. Vehicle access inside the scenic area is conditional and may be replaced by the operating shuttle plan. Continue to Xinyuan or the contracted nearby base for the night.
Day 8: Nalati Sky Grassland
Use a full day for Nalati Sky Grassland and the scenic transport route operating that day. A cableway, horse riding, photography package or outdoor cultural activity is optional unless the final proposal names it as included. Horse riding carries risk and should use only an authorized local operator. Stay in the confirmed Nalati-area property.
Day 9: Seasonal Tangbula and Duku Road Return
When the northern Duku Road is officially open and safe, return toward Urumqi through the Tangbula corridor. The source schedule estimates about 550 km and nine hours of driving before delays. If the road is closed, use the confirmed G218 and Tianshan Shengli Tunnel route; when that route is unavailable, an Yining rail connection may be required and its ticket cost must be stated in the final quote.
Day 10: Depart Urumqi
Transfer for the confirmed flight or train. Urumqi airport security and city traffic require a generous buffer, so the departure day should remain free of fixed sightseeing.
